Four Tet – Pyramid (Atoms For Peace rmx 1)

Comprising primarily of Radiohead duo front man Thom Yorke and beat smith Nigel Godrich, the Atoms For Peace project looks set for a long-term foray into arena of electronic music. After Yorke recently slammed the DJ world saying, “I have to say, I don’t like a lot of the DJ culture that goes around it” he’s offered up somewhat of an olive branch with this barnstorming creation.

Along with regular contributors including Flea (Red Hot Chili Peppers), Joey Waronker (Beck, R.E.M) and Mauro Refosco (Forro in the Dark), Atoms for Peace have turned their delicate and skilled production hands to Four Tet’s 2012 release, Pyramid. This resounding two-step refix offers a gold mine of cut up samples and a bass line that tremors underneath the track. Slotting nicely into the recent revivalism of classic house and UK bass music, Kieran Hebden (Four Tet) included a sound bite that accompanied the track exclaiming, “it’s so fucking good!” I think we have to agree with him on that.
