Willow Beats – Alchemy EP and Tour

Almost a month ago, Melbourne duo Willow Beats posted the track Elemental on Soundcloud, which somehow grew a mini claw and clenched on to the little pumping muscle that is my heart. Their song Alchemy was already gaining traction, and almost 30,000 listens of these two songs and millions of beats by plenty of hearts later, they release their anticipated Alchemy EP.

Elemental continues to stand out as the most assured track to me, with an electronically interesting soundscape that weaves behind vocals that are both tender and bold, but always yearning. The title song Alchemy is sure to set more upbeat electronic-lovers alight, but I prefer their down-tempo tunes, such as Blue and Incantation.

Blue makes lazy Sundays last, it mirrors the fading sun and can induce a will to move and be still simultaneously.  It’s a beautiful track, and I especially love the clean guitar licks earlier in the piece.  Incantation does just as the name implies, it summons something magical and unknown. It drips and whispers at times and demands at others, but stays ethereal throughout. Alchemy EP is already on high rotation round these parts, and you can download the EP, paying whatever you desire above $7, here.
