She Keeps Bees – Owl (feat. Sharon Van Etten)
This gloriously pared-back late night Brooklyn blues is just the ticket for our Friday wind-down. Sharon Van Etten has joined She Keeps Bees’ Jessica Larrabee on vocals for this subtly sultry track, which has a quiet power somehow reminiscent of how an owl glides near unnoticed but quietly entrancing through the night. And the brass overtones are equally mesmerising.
Owl is the latest single from She Keeps Bees new album Eight Houses available September 16 through Future Gods Records. Even without the lovely prelude of tracks such as Owl and previously Is What It Is, the album deserves a thorough listen purely because it was produced by Nicolas Vernhes, who in my opinion is responsible for two of the best indie releases of the year to date – Wye Oak’s Shriek and The War on Drugs’ Lost In A Dream.
She Keeps Bees kick off their US tour next week, and are lined up to play a few UK dates in November.
