Vessels – Echo In
In a deep, dark corner of Leeds, a 5-piece electronic band are crafting tunes to make your goose-pimples dance.
They’re been around for a few years but their 2015 album Dilate is the first I’ve heard of them. Shame on me. Dilate - out on Bias – is a beautiful, hypnotic construction of beats and bass that fans of Jon Hopkins, Lapalux and even Sub Motion Orchestra will be sliding off their chairs in appreciation of.
There’s no rush in the mellow depths of Echo In, even though it’s rhythms have vaguely chaotic shadows. The rest of Dilate traverses all sorts of tempos and sounds with that strange mix of sadness and elation that always captures my full-attention. There’s no doubt I’ll be checking these guys out when they play their album party at OSLO on June 17th. Tickets here.
