Shigeto – Olivia
Like a bottomless puddle on a dark city street, Shigeto explores themes of modern life on his new album – with no depth restrictions. Diving into a sublime mass of textures and bass that is Olivia, Shigeto explores nostalgia, acceptance, and beauty. Considering the 2012 marked the end of a 6 year relationship for this Detroit producer, this track sounds like closure. Either that or was an amicable split. A fade instead of a clear ending are normally annoying, but here, Olivia just quietly drifts into oblivion. It suits her.
Shigeto’s 3rd LP, No Better Time Than Now, is due to be released on Ghostly later this month. Pre-order here.
