A Mix On Repeat #4
Good morning. Here’s some jams to sink your teeth into as we approach the mid-week hump. For your enjoyment we have tracks from Maya Payne and Waxahatchee & then remixes from Eau Claire & Room 8.
Woah! Let’s start off with Maya Payne. 17. From New Zealand. This is isn’t Lorde & thank god, we don’t need two of them. Just when BBC’s Sound Of’s Top 5 showed a trend leading to popularity in male vocalists Payne brings us back with a great example of electronic-led pop that’s a little dark & a little bit fantastic.
Just absolutely beautiful. It’s a constant build through-out with mini moments of epicness. With many new artists surfacing these days Waxahatchee are an example of brilliant music having released two perfect albums already. The two year gap’s break has made this inbox treat even more sweeter.
Pink Feathers has been enjoying the luxury of being produced by mega online producers, RAC. We thought with this remix of The Feeling’s Gone by Eau Claire it’s a good time to jump in and say the project’s really starting to work for us. There’s real variation in a growing body of work that makes a pop star. Check out In A Spell, Ghosts & Keep Pretending.
LA duo Room 8 (Ezra Reich & Nic Johns) make fancy 80’s retro electro pop. It’s all very TV Miami Vice soundtrack type of stuff. It definitely has its place in the music arena as it’s super fun & with remixes like this one, you can see why artist want them to rework. They’re popping in the studio with Little Boots too, which should be fun.
