Water Graves – Creatures
I reckon if you gave Buddha some instruments to tinkle with, a hipstamatic camera and a few tabs of acid the result would be Water Graves.
The Perth duo’s sound is classified as chilled-out, ambient pop but I think that’s too much of a simplistic description. It’s undeniable that Creatures has a definite hippy vibe to it but the muted bass line, slightly melancholic vocals and wavering synth tones give it more of a multifaceted, low-fi presence which borders on psychedelic and nudges it firmly into the realm of mellow.
Water Graves’ EP is due for release at the end of 2012 but until then you can download two of their tracks here, light some incense, acquire some floaty clothing and just get downright zen.
