Legendary Hammersmith Palais brought back to life…
Under their shouty #STAYLOUD banner, audio brand Skullcandy is creating a series of music shows around Europe which celebrate the memory of once great music venues with one off special shows in spaces that have been redeveloped in to spunky flats, bistros that serve burgers in brioche buns and other faceless monochrome delights.
Last month, the iconic Hammersmith Palais which hosted acts like the Beatles, The Rolling Stones and of course – the Clash who immortalised the venue with the song (White Man) in Hammersmith Palais (happy 60th birthday last week BTW Mick!) is now a sweaty work out gym, but was brought back to its former sweaty live music glory by the up and coming English band ‘Peace’ .
Skullcandy is creating a series of films from these events and the first video from The Hammersmith Palais looks a bit like this:
Further events are running in Paris and Berlin – sounds good to us. Rock on. Shame the venues had to go in the first place, but that’s ‘progress’ eh?
‘ere’s that Clash tune too
