Yolke and Big Yawn – Split Launch, Sat 26th July

Yolke and Big Yawn, two spawn from nebulous Melbourne label Fallopian Tunes are cutting loose their newfangled EPs in a live split launch on Saturday 26th July at the Northcote Social Club, Melbourne. Brisbane’s toy-mangling music maker X in O is their special guest.

Yolke’s new EP Real Memories attempts to dig deeper into subconscious reverie with a rougher, rawer approach, compared to their prior release, Syrup, which glistened and vibrated with warm psychedelia and subtle funk.

Big Yawn is a drums-and-keys duo that you simply must hear live to truly comprehend. Drum beats you have not heard before, coupled with shadowy, nonplussing electronic loops that send you into a glazed trance. Their latest EP Future Traffic bolsters their allegiance to irregularity. A Dark Mofo candidate for sure.

To top it off, X in O is will proffer her unusual musical style consisting of broken keyboards and circuit bent toys.

As seems to be the custom with the reclusive undergrounders, Yolke will not be playing another show until next year, other than this upcoming launch. That means if you live in Melbourne, get to this show.

The new EPs will be available at the launch. Event details here.
